Convenient modern hotel 10 mins walk from city centre. Rooms fine if a little tatty. Regular weddings and other group events.
Staff were exceptional -nothing was too much trouble-very courteous
All the facilities were excellent including food.
The location was exellent as it was very close to the centre of Oxford, no need for car or taxi. The food was excellent and the staff were always polite and accomodating. The lounge was comfortable and variety of food and drink should appeal to all.
Having stayed in a ground floor room it was quiet noisy with people returning at all hours of the night and being able to hear conversations as we are people who like to have windows open as much as possible night or day.
Close walk to city center - 15mins. Or you can take the bus which takes less than 7 mins and the stop is across the street from the hotel. The gym was dated but sufficient and good, and same with the rooms but still very comfortable (we stayed in a room with a double bed and a pull out sofa bed - triple). The breakfast buffet was great.
location close to river, can walk into Oxford via delightful riverside walk, didn't need to take car out, as soon as you turn into hotel driveway it speaks of care and excellence, grounds beautiful, retreat from busy roads and city centre, it suited us (two couples) perfectly, breakfast was served in an excellent manner, set out clearly and without mess, we didn't have dinner in the hotel but heard the live piano music which was a lovely touch, reception helpful and efficient and human!, bar staff served us lunch outside willingly, lovely rooms
In a city where hotel accommodation is usually near the road, Oxford Spires is set back in its own grounds - peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to the centre to be able to walk (15 minutes). Car parking is excellent, which is a bonus in Oxford and there are frequent buses past the end of the driveway for those who prefer not to walk. Really good venue for Christchurch meadows, the colleges, the bookshops, the eateries and ... the shops!
Confenance to the city center
Genral atmosphere, helpful and pleasant staff, comfortable room, (bad pillows< adequate mattress)< excellent food.
Bed and pillows could be much better. (Room 124)
Was pleased that the large bedroom included a sitting area
nice room lovely 20 min walk to town by the river
builders working so entrance very messy.
The room was very comfortable.
We had a patio but it was in the beer garden and as there was some king of group activity involving Archery and other stuff one day and a wedding reception the next day we did not feel comfortable using it. There were a couple of household issues one was that our room included complimentary mini bar on the second day it was refilled but no glasses were provided. This was sorted out at reception within 10 mins of reporting. The other thing was I used the shower cap on the first day and when I went to use one the second day it had been replaced by sewing kit instead of another shower cap. I didn't bother reporting that as I was already in the shower.
Really close to the City centre with easy access. Quiet location and obliging staff.
The staff were efficient and friendly. The pool was amazing particularly for a vertically challenged person like myself. The atmosphere in the hotel was calm and relaxed. As real foodies it was a real bonus to have dishes at the hotel that were tasty and well presented. The parking at the hotel and the short walk to the city was the icing on the cake.
The room was spacious and very comfortable. The lighting in the room was good and enabled comfortable reading for two people sitting in the setee. The hotel is situated in a pleasant location and a 15/20 minute level walk into the centre of Oxford. Had the cooked breakfast which was very good.
